USC Wins SEC Thriller Over Bama

For the second time in three days, South Carolina (10-15, 3-9 SEC) came away with a conference win, topping Alabama (10-15, 4-8 SEC), 67-66, with key plays down the stretch this evening at Colonial Life Arena. The back-to-back SEC wins were the first for Carolina since January 2011, when the team defeated Florida by three on the road and Arkansas in double overtime at home.

With six Gamecocks in double figures for the second game in a row, No. 7/8 South Carolina shot past Missouri 78-62. The Gamecocks (20-2, 8-1 SEC) reached the 20-win plateau in front of a season-high crowd of 7,828, the sixth-best women’s basketball crowd in Colonial Life Arena history.
 
 

Spurrier chasing Bear Bryant for most-ever SEC victories

When asked eight months ago during the SEC spring meetings in Destin, Fla., if he aimed to eclipse Bear Bryant’s all-time SEC wins record, Steve Spurrier responded in classic HBC fashion.

“Had I wanted to break that record, I would have stayed at Florida,” Spurrier laughed.
