Gators move to 2-0 in SEC play with 72-47 win against Mississippi State

Sooting guard Eli Carter is getting healthy again, and the Florida Gators are beginning to look whole just in time for SEC play.

Carter had his best game in nearly two months, scoring a game-high 20 points and shooting 4-of-6 from 3-point range as the Gators routed Mississippi State 72-47 on Saturday night at the O’Connell Center. UF extended its school-record SEC win streak to 23 games.

Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sony Michel ran for 155 yards with three touchdowns and Hutson Mason threw for a pair of scores, as 13th-ranked Georgia bounced back from last week's tough loss at South Carolina and cruised to a 66-0 victory over Troy.

Michel, a true freshman, averaged 15.5 yards on just 10 carries. He took over at tailback after Todd Gurley played the first two series. Gurley ran for 73 yards on six attempts, part of Georgia's 367-yard effort on the ground.

Georgia softball wins first SEC tournament title

The Georgia softball took home the program’s first Southeastern Conference tournament title on Saturday with a 5-2 win over Kentucky Wildcats.
Georgia (45-12) had four players named to the SEC All-Tournament Team: Chelsea Wilkinson, Paige Wilson, Geri Ann Glasco and Alex Hugo. Wilkinson, who went 3-0 during the tournament, was named the 2014 SEC tournament MVP.


Lady Bulldogs pulling away, Kalisz dominant at SEC

Latest NCAA figures show UGA football tops in SEC in graduation success rate

Georgia might not be getting it done on the football field this season, but it’s getting it done in the classroom.
The NCAA on Thursday released its latest numbers compiling the Graduation Success Rates (GSR) for every athletics program in the country and the Bulldogs’ student-athletes graduated at a rate of 83 percent.

Then Aaron Murray and Marshall Morgan came to the rescue and saved the sixth-ranked Bulldogs' championship aspirations.

Morgan kicked a 42-yard field goal in overtime after Murray threw a game-tying touchdown pass with 5 seconds remaining in regulation Saturday as Georgia overcame a flurry of injuries in a 34-31 victory at Tennessee.

Women's tennis opens SEC home schedule with win over Ole Miss

In its first Southeastern Conference home match of the season the No. 9 Georgia women’s tennis squad (8-1, 2-0) beat the Ole Miss Rebels (2-7, 0-3) in a 6-1 decision.

“I thought both teams were competing hard,” Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace said. “It was a great match and it’s nice to get a win.”
